Wyatt at the Tulsa Fair

We went to the Fair today, and I am not sure who loved it more, Wyatt or his mommy and daddy. Wyatt spent most of the day on daddy's shoulders, he could see the world better up there. We even went on two rides, that Wyatt smiled all the way through! I smiled all the way through the fair because of the corn dog, potato chips ( fried Potatoes), corn on the cob ( voted Lisa's favorite), and a Carmel apple with nuts that I ate. I even shared 3 lemonades with Justin, and came home and took a long nap. What a great day in the Meacham family! I wish I had pictures to share, but when I got my camera out to use it today ( I have not taken any pictures since the last week of July) it would not work. One of my friends spilled a drink in the cup holder of my car while I was in Lubbock, and the mess did not get cleaned up and my camera sat in the mess. I did not know this had happened!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like I will be getting a new camera for my birthday next month, but in the meantime I need to take 10 new pictures of Wyatt and get them to our adoption agency this week because our post placement report is due in Russia on October 1st, which will not happen thanks to my local home study agency. This agency has been a pain in my side since the beginning, and I only used them to complete the home study because our adoption agency recommended them. The ironic thing about this report is that our local agency came in June to complete the information so that she could have everything turned in on time, and she is late anyway. I am anxious to have this report because 1. I may want to use our adoption agency again for the next adoption and 2. I do not want to hold adoptions up for any other family that is trying to complete an adoption through Russia because this adoptive family could not follow the rules.

I will put new pictures on sometime soon. I had not updated because Wyatt and I were one place with camera, and our computer was another place to download pictures to the blog. And also because LIFE happened and I have not been as organized as I would like to be. I still have a blank baby book that needs to be filled in, and when I think about all the firsts that I am not capturing on film it makes me a little sad. I really will try and do better.

Six months & counting.......

Six months ago today a little boy named Wyatt Andrey joined our family, and changed our lives forever! Where have the past six months gone? Wyatt is doing so good, and has adjusted well to us and his home. I am reminded daily of the blessing he has brought to our lives, and now that Wyatt and I are back in Tulsa we can get on with life, and building our family foundation.

It was hard to say bye at work, and daycare yesterday. The group of people that make Team VistaCare Lubbock are so compassionate, loving, and have a real heart to serve patients, the community, and each other. I wish things could have worked out differently, and until we see each other again keep up the great work! Kid's Kingdom was a hard place to leave because I am so thankful that they were so good to Wyatt, and he learned lots from the teachers and other children in his class. Wyatt was excited everyday when we got to school, and during the four short weeks we were there he made great effort, and really started showing some change. Last weekend Justin was feeding Wyatt, and he closed his mouth and started shaking his head from side to side ( indicating NO, NO, NO). Justin asked me what is this? I said, " you know what they say, for better or worse they learn it from their friends at daycare." His teacher Ms.Amy was crying, and Ms. Tracye was hoping that something would happen and we could stay in Lubbock. We promised to send them pictures from time to time. Thank you KidsKingdom, Ms.Amy, and Ms. Tracye your love, and compassion for the children really shows, and it made it easy for me to leave him each day and go to work.

We are officially back in Tulsa, and I have spent the day unpacking the car and putting things away. I should get it all taken care of tonight, and I can start on the next neglected project. It is hard to believe we were gone for 7 weeks!

Update on Dr's appointments...

On Thursday we went to see Dr. Mike for a follow up concerning Wyatt's vision. The Dr said Wyatt's eye has improved greatly. At our first visit in June, Wyatt's left eye was lagging behind a great deal, and was not in the range that they would have like to have seen. At this exam it tested within range, and was catching up to his right eye. We have been told that we can go from patching 2 hours a day, down to 1 hour a day and he wants to see us again in January. We will wear the glasses as he will allow, we learned the glasses are not a visual aid, but part of the process to help strengthen his eyes. Lots, and lots of answered prayers with Wyatt's vision!!!!!

On Friday we went to see our pediatrician for a well check, and he also said that Wyatt looked really good, and that Justin and I should be proud of our accomplishments. I wish we would have put on more weight, (18lbs 13 ozs. so we are still rear facing, and Dr Raley said in Europe they keep the children rear facing until they are 4 years of age). Dr. Raley says his weight gain is within normal range since we have had him. He was not concerned that Wyatt is still not walking we are making great progress, and we can tell each week he is stronger, and stands more independently, and with more confidence. We finished our exam by getting 3 shots, and we are going back for 1 more shot in October then Dr. Raley is finished with us for 6 months. Unless, of course we need him due to an illness, or injury.

I need to share a story with you about Saturday morning. I was watching Wyatt while Justin was taking care of something in another room, and I was letting Wyatt crawl around our bedroom/ bathroom ( which is a rare treat because we always play upstairs since it is Wyatt proof) he had my socks, and was throwing them, scooting with them, and just having a good time with my socks. It got quiet, I got worried, and so I went to check on Wyatt. Any guesses as to what he was doing? He was dunking my socks ( both of them) into the toilet!!!!!!!!! He was loving it......... And then Daddy came in and said, "Thanks for washing mommas socks".

Wyatt and I will be flying back to Lubbock tomorrow, unless hurricane IKE makes it impossible.

Changes, Changes, Changes

When will life slow down for the Meacham's? I very quickly wanted to let everyone know that the Meacham family will be remaining in Tulsa. I feel that my heart is in Texas, ( I will always be a Texas girl) but my home is in Tulsa! If money were no object I would split my time, but since it is I will be staying in Tulsa. The biggest lesson I learned here is that together is the way Justin and I need to conquer the world. I was saying the other day not only do I love my husband, I really like him, and we make a great team! He is very hands on with Wyatt, and I have felt like 1/2 of me has been missing for the past 5 weeks. We will be back in Tulsa no later than September 20th, but we may be back for good this weekend. We are scheduled to have Dr's appointments in OKC with eye specialist on Thursday, and our pediatrician on Friday. Regular, scheduled check ups in both cases! Wyatt is sick today, very congested, runny green goop, and tired. He went to bed late, and was up every hour because he could not breath. We are sharing a room, so I was also up all night with him. I am going to call Dr. Raley and ask for some advice this morning.

Have a great week, and I will keep everyone posted on upcoming Dr's appointments, and once we are settled back into a routine in Tulsa!
