Gotcha Day.......

One year ago today we stood in a court room in Vladivostok, Russia and petitioned the courts for the adoption of Alekseevich Andrey Balachin, today known as Wyatt Andrey Meacham. The first picture that I have included on the post is our very first picture of Wyatt. The second picture was our referral photo that was sent to us before we met Wyatt. The last two pictures are of my sweet baby boy in more recent months. American for sure, watching a movie in the car, and of course cheering for his favorite football team. What a difference a year makes! Prayer, and Faith have both been an important part of this past year for us, longer really. I remember sitting in the room in Vladivostok the morning after we met Wyatt, wondering what I had gotten myself into? Could I really do this? Was this the plan God had for us? Was it the plan he had for Wyatt? Of course it was. God has been very faithful, and met us at each turn, and boy did we have a lot of turns?!?!? Some days it seems like forever since we have been a family of 3, and other days it seems like this all happened just last week. Now, I can not image my life without Wyatt, a mother's love is so wonderful...... But, a child's unconditional love is also remarkable....... Wyatt, thank you for all the joy you have brought to your daddy, and me. We laugh with you, and sometimes at you because of all the silly things you do. You really enjoy seeing us laugh! You are extremely independent, and rarely will let us know you need anything. It will be interesting to post the next year of milestones in your life. You are a determined little guy, and spend much of your time working through things that most take for granted because it has come so easy for them. You mastered walking a few months back, and are now working on language. At this point you do not say more than a word or two, but I know that when you finally decide you will be saying lots of things all at once! You are curious about anything that rolls, and goes up and down, and now you have discovered those big birds in the sky, AKA Planes. Your word of the month is thrreeeeeee, and just this week you have started saying hot. I have been heard saying this several times over the past year, but thank you to all our family, and friends who continue to check in on us, and continue to walk along the path of Wyatt's life with us. God is good all the time, all the time God is good!!!!!!!!! Let's remember to give him the praise for the Meacham Family of III....... Have a great weekend, we plan to celebrate for the next 8 days because technically we were placed as a family of 3 today, and tomorrow would have to return Wyatt, and then get him again for good on the 28th. Nobody is taking Wyatt this year for those 8 days so do not even try!!!!!

What a wonderful year it has been for the three of you! I must say I feel that our lives have been enriched by Wyatt also. It is such a thrill to have another little "great" in the family. I only wish that we lived closer so we could be involved in Wyatt's life more. Congratulations on you first successful year as parents!
Love you,
Aunt Laurie

I know you won't, but just a reminder to never take a day with Wyatt for granted. Each day is special and new, and will bring more love than you can imagine. Never forget that 18 years goes by in a hurry, but it goes by one day at a time...make each one count. Love to you all
