Still working towards a schedule..
The last 2 days and nights have been rough for everyone.
Wyatt, I believe has his days and nights mixed up, and for that matter I guess so do Justin and I. As you can tell from the time I am posting this blog it was another very short night for me! The last 2 nights Wyatt has been asleep somewhere around 7:30 pm, his usual bed time in Russia was always 8:00pm, and he would wake between 8:00 and 8:30 am the next morning in a great mood. Each night around 10:30-11:00 pm he would wake and I could hear him playing in the crib, I never went to check on him until he would start to cry. Both nights that happened about an hour after the playing started! Both nights I rocked him for about an hour in a very quiet room, and last night I managed to fall asleep twice while doing this, the rocking was at least working for one of us!
Then something new also happened last night at dinner time. Wyatt has never been a picky eater, but last night we fed him Gerber green beans, and Gerber chicken noodle casserole and he had about 10 bites of each one and then decided he was finished eating. ( he has never left any food behind, and will sometimes beg for more.) Up until dinner we still had Russian baby food, and only at dinner did we have to switch to American baby food, was it the food he did not like ( I would have thought 10 bites of something meant it was okay), or again was he super tired by dinner and just did not feel it was worth it?
Baths he always enjoyed in Russia, not so much here!
I am hoping in the days ahead that we get this worked out because I feel so bad for Wyatt. Not that he is crying all the time or anything, but because what we knew as a schedule for a few short weeks is a thing of the past, at least for now. I can promise you, Wyatt can not afford to skip any meals AT ALL. He weighed 6330 grams the day we left the orphanage, ( approx. 15lbs) and I was hoping for some BIG improvements in that dept, we have our first doctors appointment next Thursday and I was hoping for a gain of 1-2 lbs.
We hope everyone has a great weekend!!!! Get some extra rest for the Meacham household.

I wonder what the "experts" say about Wyatt adjusting to a new time zone. How long does it take? I think he was just too tired at dinner. There are lots of reason kids will eat well one day and not the next. I don't think it had anything to do w/ the food. Ryan won't eat green beans either!
I can't believe he only weighs 15lbs! He really doesn't look that small from the pics, and he looks very healthy!
We'll be praying that Wyatt gets back on a sch. that works for him, and back to his happy self!!

Wyatt has been through many changes in the past month. Even though they are in his very best interests and you love him dearly, they are still changes. Give him time to adjust and a lot of love and you'll get a routine one of these days.
Love to all of you,
Aunt Laurie and Uncle Craig
SUPER PRAISE AND CONGRATS TO THE HAPPY THREESOME. WHATTA TRIP THIS HAS BEEN. This grandmother would say you are doing things just perfectly by flying by the seat of your pants (or diaper). The operative word here would be ADJUSTMENT...BIGTIME. I'm glad you recognize 'overtired'...I'm worn out just thinking of your journey. Babies are tough but they surely do need their rest.
God bless.
Girl,
Praying you all will quickly get back to Oklahoma Time Zone. Sixteen hours is a lot to overcome in a couple of days. Wyatt will get in the groove. Sorry I missed your call. I'm in Stillwater with my pledge sisters I haven't seen most of them in over 25 year. I know I'm old. It has been a great weekend. I'll be home tomorrow so if you need me to do anything for you when I get back, holler. I could come and rock Wyatt while you take a nap!:) I loved holding him the little bit I got.
Love ya,
Julie
Wyatt's had so many changes the past month... he'll get into the swing of things soon - I promise! I was up with Karter last night from 3-5... she wasn't feeling too great. I was wondering if you were up too!?!?! :) We're looking forward to seeing you Tuesday! :) Call me if you need anything before then - I can be there in a flash. Love you all!!!
Well, I am sure yall are exhausted. I do think it is just going to take time for everyone to get adjusted. Poor little Wyatt, this is all so new - the atmosphere, the food, the time difference. I know you are trying to stick to a strict schedule but the only advice I could give you is to keep him up later, maybe till 10 or even 11 at night. I know yalls eyes will probably try to close but if it's possible, then he might actually sleep through the night, or most of it anyways. Or that might not work at all. He will adjust. As far as the babyfood, yuck! Have you tried it? So disgusting. I don't blame poor little Wyatt. If he is able to eat regular food, you might give him fresh stuff instead of that baby food. I don't blame him for not liking it. The girls hated green beans and all the meats... and after tasting them, I can't say I blame them. They liked the sweeter things though. Again, this will all come in time and I am sure the doctor will tell you what to feed him. I switched the girls to these little Cambell Soup Childrens stew and pasta bowls, that worked well. As far as his weight goes, yes he is a little on the small side, but Shelby weighed in at 18 pounds at this age. I realize she is a girl but she was on the small side too. They grow up just fine. Please don't worry too much about it. He is home now and he will have good guidance on nutrition, lots of love from family and friends and he will have a home that is all his. Very blessed. It will all be work out just fine. I know the first month or so will be an adjustment for everyone. Good luck my friend!
Love ya!

Lisa,
Wyatt looked small the other night but not malnourished. He'll catch up. Clara was tiny like that and look at her now. You know, after i travel, even in the states, I feel kind of yuck about food for a couple of days. Give him time. If you've got a food processor just stick some fresh stuff in there and blend it up. My kids preferred that over baby food. Especially the meats, bleech. Hope your nights are getting longer and your days are going better. I'll try to send you those pictures from your arrival tonight. Love you,
Rebecca Brown
I agree to whomever said try and make him stay up longer by playing or something, maybe go to the park right before it gets dark. I would also put the bath off a little longer too. He may not like it but its usually relaxing to the body. I'am sure it will take him awhile to adjust to all the changes but it will get better. If he is interested in real food instead of baby jar food I would give it a try. The only baby food worth eating is the sweet stuff, but he needs meat and veggies more.(I know the boys loved mashed potatoes).
I was all for a schedule to, but maybe just adjusting for now is the best thing...Stay well and try to get some rest (maybe when Wyatt naps you should too)...
Lots of Love,
Aunt Stephanie
