Updates to Report...

Please let me say like so many others that have blogs, where do the days go? I have had good intentions of posting an update, with new photos but I guess it has been just that, my intentions.

Let me first go back to Thanksgiving, and say we had a wonderful time in California with our Aunt Laurie, Uncle Craig, and their family. Their oldest grandson, Aiden was there he is 9 months older than Wyatt, so we had hours of BOY play time in the swings, with cars, in the bathtub. I think everyone really enjoyed themselves. Wyatt traveled very well, but coming back our plane was delayed leaving California and we nearly missed our connection in Arizona. They held the plane for us because it was the last one of the night, so of course we had to RUN to catch it! We pulled away from Tulsa International at 12:05 am after a very long day of traveling, but Wyatt was a trooper. What a great 1st Thanksgiving as a Meacham family of 3!

On Thursday of last week we met some former VistaCare friends for dinner, and Wyatt was a little fussy at dinner, except for the time my friend Bryan was holding him, Wyatt actually asked to go to Bryan, which I found interesting because Bryan is a bearded guy. Wyatt was so interested in Bryan's beard. Thanks for being a trooper Bryan and letting Wyatt enjoy the experience. By the time we got home it was obvious Wyatt did not feel good, and sure enough he has come down with another cold. He woke every hour on Thursday night, and by 5:00 am I was upstairs with him, finally he was back to sleep about 6:45 am, and woke again crying by 7:15am. These things never happen at a good time!

I was busy on Friday, and Saturday all day preparing and getting ready to serve a banquet Saturday at noon for our Senior Adults at church. Wyatt was suppose to be in a style show at the event, but I decided against it because I did not want him getting anyone sick, and he was not his easy going self! The banquet was a success we served 80 people including our volunteers. I always feel so blessed to be with our Senior Adults, they are so appreciative and always have the kindest words. One even said to me this was the highlight of her Christmas season! I was in the Christmas spirit after the event.

Sunday Justin stayed home again with Wyatt, and I went to church. It was our Sunday to have the 3 year olds in the preschool area, so off I went. Justin said to me last night he really enjoyed having the weekend at home, with no commitments. Wyatt never got out of his PJ's on Saturday! What a weekend for the boys......

Tonight I was feeding Wyatt, and I said to him " Way to Go" because we enjoyed Broccoli, chicken nuggets, and applesauce. ( the big deal was the broccoli because I served it without putting it through the blender) Wyatt is still working on mastering vegetables, and fruit in their original consistency. If it goes through my blender he is good, but if not he refuses. Anyway, Justin was laughing at the picture unfolding in front of him because he heard me say to Wyatt I will not weigh you this week on the 11th, but I will weigh you in January. Justin says I am treating this like I am trying to fatten the pig up for the State Fair. Think what you want, but it is all business around here!!!!!!! After, the first of the year maybe Wyatt can find all the pounds that I am going to try and loose.

I have a special prayer request. I met a nice women named Tammy while I was in Lubbock this summer, and she shared with me that they were in the process of adopting a little boy from Russia. They have 3 biological daughters, and will be soon adding a son to their family. They traveled to Russia in October for their first trip, and will be leaving on Friday for their 2nd and final trip. My prayer is that the trip goes smoothly and without delays along the way, that court on December 15th is also a smooth experience, and that Nicholas will feel safe and secure during this transition time back to the USA. Also, pray for their 3 daughters who will possibly be with grandparents for Christmas. Tammy, Chris, and Nicholas will either be home the day before Christmas or the day after. Add this family to your prayer list through the holidays, and continue to pray for Nicholas during this transition time. We want bonding, good health reports( they have concerns about a possible open heart surgery), and for this wonderful family of 5 to become a family of 6 without to many challenges. Our boys are 2 months apart in age, and I told Tammy I would like to come for a visit early next year. I think it will be important in the years ahead for these boys to have a support system with each other!

I could go on and on, but let me just say that anytime you step into the unknown with adoption it is only natural to have fears, and concerns about it all. I have to remind myself of this, and sometimes stop, pray and ask for peace about the unknown. Especially, the adoption route we took allows for very little information to be known about the birth parents, so I have found myself wondering lately if I should try and explore finding Wyatt's birth parents, so if he should ask for the information at least I will know a little something.

I guess when you do not post for over a week you find you have lots, and lots of information to update!

Lisa, Dogs with pedigrees have better medical/health records than those of us who are adopted. I was never interested in looking for my biological parents because I already had wonderful parents and to get any medical info in the United States you must find your birth mother. I wish you well if you decide to go on that journey. Maybe the Russians will be more forthcoming than the bureaucrats here.

It was too quite after you left. No Aiden and no Wyatt riding the tractor up and down the tiled hallway. Yup, way too quiet! We sure enjoyed having all of you here.

Love you all, Auntie Laurie

Wow...You guys have been busy! I'm very happy to hear Wyatt is doing so well, and it sounds like his Mommy and Daddy are too. Take care of each other!
